Privacy Policy: sMedia LOTie (Browser Extension)

Effective date: July 31, 2026

The sMedia LOTie ("the extension") is a tool published by sMedia Ventures Inc. ("sMedia", "we", "us") for authorized dealership staff to post their sMedia Hub vehicle inventory to Facebook Marketplace. It signs you in to the sMedia Hub, loads the inventory for the dealership you select, and pre-fills the Facebook Marketplace listing form with the vehicle details you choose to post, so you can review and publish each listing yourself. This policy explains what the extension accesses, how that information is handled, and where it is sent.

What is the sMedia Hub? The sMedia Hub is sMedia's web-based dealership platform (at hub.smedia.ca) where dealerships and sMedia staff manage a dealership's vehicle inventory and the sMedia services connected to it, including LOTie. Your sMedia Hub account is the same account you use to sign in to the extension, and it determines which dealership's inventory you are allowed to work with.

What the extension accesses

How the information is handled

Stored locally on your device (in the browser's extension storage): your sMedia Hub sign-in session (sign-in token, email, name, user id, and role), the dealership you have selected and the list of dealerships you are allowed to access, and short-lived "pending listing" data (the vehicle details and image links) that is handed to the Facebook tab while you post or edit a listing and then cleared.

Sent to the sMedia Hub. Because the extension's job is to post your dealership's inventory, it communicates with the sMedia Hub to sign you in, load inventory and media, and record the listings you post or edit. What is recorded is a snapshot of each listing (the vehicle details that were posted, the Facebook listing's web address, and your identity as the poster), together with any custom photos or videos you upload for a listing, which are stored in sMedia's cloud storage. Edits you make to a listing on Facebook are synced back to the Hub so your dealership's records stay current.

Entered into Facebook. The listing content (the vehicle details, photos, and optional video) is entered into Facebook Marketplace in your own browser, under your own Facebook account. Publishing is a manual action you take. sMedia never receives your Facebook login credentials.

Sending your dealership's inventory and listing information to the sMedia Hub is core to how LOTie works. It is how your dealership keeps track of what has been posted. The extension only acts on your dealership's inventory and the listings you choose to post or edit. It does not track your general web browsing and it does not read your personal Facebook account.

Permissions the extension requests, and why

What we do not do

Data retention

Locally stored session and selection data remains on your device until you sign out or remove the extension, and sign-in tokens expire automatically. Short-lived pending-listing data is cleared after each post or edit. Listing records and any custom media you upload are retained in the sMedia Hub and sMedia's cloud storage under sMedia's standard data-handling practices; your dealership can remove listings and media through the Hub.
